What is Garcinia Cambogia Extract?

The key ingredient of Garcinia Cambogia Extract that is responsible for its natural weight loss benefits is called hydroxycitric acid.

Garcinia Cambogia Extract patches and their namesake plant go by a number of different names internationally; hydroxycitric acid (HCA – not to be confused with “Hydroxycut” supplements), brindle or brindall berry, garcinia, citrin, garcinia, garcinia kola, gamboge, gorikapuli, mangosteen, and Malabar tamarind (not to be confused with tamarind or tamarindus indica).

Garcinia Cambogia Ingredients

Garcinia Cambogia originates from one of the best-tasting citrus fruits in India and Asia –the Mangosteen, which is a well-known superfood for its antioxidant power and lesser known for its natural appetite suppression capabilities.

The Mangosteen’s HCA content comes not from the fruit itself, but from the peel.

The “extract” composition of the Garcinia Cambogia patch is also a key indicator of potency, as products derived from extracts are a lot more powerful than simply taking a mangosteen and grinding it up into a pill or dermal patch.

When it comes to the best weight loss supplements, extracts are key. They cut out all the unnecessary compounds and give you only what you’re looking for –no fluff.

Foods that Cause or Trigger Weight Gain

Diets that are high in processed foods, refined sugar, starch, monosodium, and unhealthy fats have been known to cause weight gain, and even eczema. These foods are inflammatory, make you age faster, lower immune function, are difficult to digest, promote tiredness, make your mind foggy, often promote the growth of cancer cells, and cause bloating.

Even worse, so many healthy foods sneak in ingredients that are inflammatory or kill “living foods” which contain prebiotics and probiotics for the sake of the supply chain.

Why the Supply Chain is Making You Bloat

Foods that are imported or engineered to have a long shelf life often pass through radioactive scanners (just like the baggage scanner at the airport) which kill all the living cultures in them to prevent spoilage while in transit, and to prevent the spread of bad bacteria –however it also kills all the good bacteria, too.

These healthy bacteria cultures aid in digestion while boosting immune function. The FDA claims that destroying all bacteria through irradiation does not affect the nutritional content of the food, however if you consider digestion-friendly living organisms present in products like organic apple cider vinegar or yogurt good for your health –then the FDA is dead wrong (and allowing businesses to put profit before your health).

Further to this, the word “preservative” itself is quite misleading. Preservatives preserve food by also killing microorganisms and bacteria (both good and bad) much like the way bleach does. Albeit less harmful than bleach, over time the damage to your stomach microbiome will throw off your body’s natural digestion process, lead to a perpetual bloat, and a host of other health problems.

That natural six-pack you’ve been trying to obtain may have nothing to do with burning off belly fat at all, it might be bloat due to a weak or non-existent microbiome.

Your best line of defense is to take probiotic supplements regularly in addition to other weight loss efforts, such as garcinia cambogia extract patches.

How do Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patches Work?

Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patches contain organic ingredients that have been reported to suppress appetite naturally by making you feel full, while lowering cholesterol levels and speeding up your metabolism.

Garcinia Cambogia Health Benefits

In addition to potentially supressing appetite naturally, increasing energy without a sugar crash, lowering cholesterol, and boosting your metabolism, other reputable websites have also stated that garcinia cambogia can potentially enhance athletic performance by slowing down your rate of exhaustion according to two different scientific studies. Another advantage to using a diet patch vs diet pill is that they are far more discreet, easier to consume than capsules and you don’t need to remember when to take them which is ideal for dosage consistency.

Are Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patches a Scam?

Verdict: Incredibly over-hyped, but there’s some truth to health claims about garcinia cambogiaHealth supplements affect everyone differently, and when it comes to weight loss there are many other factors that will affect the efficacy of a diet pill.

How you consume HCA also matters. If you’re going to take any form of garcinia cambogia, it is important to remember that your weight loss success depends on you.

does-garcinia-cambogia-workWe found this excellent explanation over at bodybuilding.com which explains how to properly supplement with HCA.

While advocates of the garcinia cambogia extract patch state that the HCA they contain will make you feel full, speed up your metabolism, and lower cholesterol levels –scientific research in the Western world is generally inconclusive and as a result we’re not able to say they are guaranteed to be effective.

Some studies report stark changes to body weight and metabolism, while others fall flat. As a result, this weight loss supplement has stirred up quite a controversy in natural health circles and it’s hard to find authentic-sounding reviews.

In contrast, people of Thailand and other Asian countries probably don’t care much about Western research; they just consume what is available in their own native environment –if you’ve ever ventured to Thailand, you’ll notice they don’t have an obesity problem. Mangosteens and HCA-rich foods are a staple in their every-day diet regimen when they’re in season.

There are plenty of garcinia cambogia scams on the internet, so if you are going to try it out for the first time we suggest reading verified buyer reviews.

Garcinia cambogia extract patches are not necessarily a scam, but their marketing isn’t helping their cause. There is no such thing as a miracle weight loss cure, and we advise that you be wary of any organisation claiming as such.

Although controversial, we do believe that there is more truth surrounding garcinia cambogia extract than fiction, however we are certain there are more affordable competing products on the market where you can find reviews by actual buyers.

If you’re stuck on the idea of using a garcinia cambogia dermal patch, you will likely pay more for them than you would for competing garcinia cambogia extract supplements, and the product itself may not be of quality.

Do Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patches have Negative Side Effects?

Yes, if not used as directed by a physician there are mild side effects of garcinia cambogia.

Is Garcinia Cambogia Safe?

If you consume too much of this natural health supplement you will likely suffer the following negative side effects:

  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Digestive problems
  • Diarrhea
  • Possible medication interactions – Consult your doctor before taking garcinia cambogia

The typical dosage for garcinia cambogia ranges between 250 mg and 1,000 mg per day. If you go beyond the suggested dosage you will likely suffer mild negative side effects of garcinia cambogia extract patches.

Other possible negative side effects unique to dermal patches include itchiness around the patch, skin irritation, moisture from perspiration, and a lasting red square from where the patch was affixed to your skin for 24 hours. We recommend you do not place the patch in the same location every day that you wear it.

Where Can I Buy Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patches Online?

If you’re going to buy garcinia cambogia extract patches online, we advise that you buy them from a reputable organisation in your own country. The reason? Harmful fakes. I personally tend not to trust health supplements from China for just this reason.

Supplements from countries like China have been proven to have little to no quality control, contain harmful substances like lead or mercury, and in some cases possess nothing that’s advertised on the label.

Buying garcinia cambogia online from a trusted source means you can also take legal action should anything go wrong.

We found garcinia cambogia extract patches over at Patch MD and As-Seen-on-TV for as little as $19.99 USD plus shipping at the time of writing. If you find a better source, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.

Currently, we can only find ‘pharmaceutical-grade’ garcinia cambogia diet pills on Amazon, no patches.

Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patch Reviews

After reading a whole bunch of less-than-critical, over-the-top reviews from around the web, we’ve compiled a couple of excerpts below.

We found these reviews on RevYolo because Patch MD does not sell garcinia cambogia extract patches on Amazon at the time of writing.

If they did sell their product on Amazon, we’d probably be able to find buyer-verified reviews as we prefer to do on TV Health Clinic. If this bothers you, we suggest you buy a similar product on Amazon.

Positive: “This is sooo crazy. I did it and lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks. My mother has been on it for 3 days and has lost1.5 lbs already.”

Negative: “Used for at least a month. I have seen no results. Left marks on my skin for weeks the size of the patch.”

Looking for Garcinia Cambogia Extract Patch Alternatives?

In order to best understand your natural weight-loss diet pill options, we’ve compiled a list of products from Amazon with a small explanation of why we selected them, in order of buyer-verified review ratings.

3 Best Natural Weight Loss Supplements

1. ‘Pharmaceutical-Grade’ 100% Pure Garcinia Cambrogia Extract with HCA

100% pure Garcinia Cambogia Extract with HCADoes Garcinia Cambogia work? by Quality Encapsulations is our number one choice as an alternative to HCA dermal patches because of the sheer volume of verified-buyer reviews. There are plenty of options on Amazon to choose from, and many have a 5/5 rating –however they mostly have less than 100 reviews from verified customers.

On the contrary, this product has a 4/5 rating as rated by 7,071 verified customers at time of writing. For such a controversial health supplement, this one has been found to be the most satisfying by all those who took the time to write a review.

2. Super Strength Forskolin Extract

Forskolin Extractgarcinia cambogia scam review alternatives is another natural weight-loss pill that carries a lot of influence among its competitors. Unlike garcinia cambogia, forskolin has been on the receiving end of much less controversy, and it also possesses other strengths, such as reportedly increasing testosterone production, improving heart health, bladder function, and a host of other benefits. And just like garcinia cambogia it will suppress appetite, increase metabolism efficiency, and help burn fat. At the time of this forskolin review this product had a 5-star rating on Amazon.

3. Conugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

garcinia-cambogia-alternativesThe least controversial of the bunch, CLA Natural by BioSense is an omega-6 fatty acid that packs a powerful payload for people who are somewhat active.

Of all the benefits, the most noteworthy reports include appetite suppression and its ability to burn fat from targeted areas –specifically the abdomen and buttox. CLA also helps fight cancer, increases metabolic rate, improves body composition, helps retain and build muscle, and it’s also a potent antioxidant.

In Summary

Garcinia cambogia is an incredibly controversial health supplement, that’s for sure. However, these days all supplements have been under fire.

Garcinia cambogia is a natural product, and therefore cannot be patented so it may be difficult to find reliable pharmaceutical-grade quality, as reputable businesses often deem non-patentable products less profitable and won’t bother.

The FDA doesn’t regulate health supplements either, meaning that yes –it is possible to fall for a garcinia cambogia scam. This is just another way your friendly neighborhood Food and Drug Administration has failed you.

Does that mean garcinia cambogia doesn’t work? Certainly not.

    Is garcinia cambogia safe?

    1. Yes, garcinia cambogia is safe when you purchase it from a trusted manufacturer. Each of the garcinia cambogia patch substitutes in this article have been recommended by a large number of actual buyers without incident.

However, mild side effects may occur if not taken as advised on the label. Scroll back up to read the part that says “Is Garcinia Cambogia Safe?”.

      I hope this helps, Judith.

  2. Chris says:

I thought “tamarind” wasn’t a mangosteen. You don’t know what you’re talking about, just like Doctor Oz.

    1. We’ve seen this argument before, thanks for bringing it up.

The tamarind you’re referring to is not to be confused with tamarind or tamarindus indica as we mentioned in the article, and it appears that you’ve mixed those two up.

From Wikipedia: “Garcinia gummi-gutta is a tropical species of Garcinia native to Indonesia. Common names include Garcinia cambogia, as well as brindleberry, Malabar tamarind, and kudam puli”. They’re not the same species. Same word, different species; so you’re arguing semantics. The fruit of the Malabar Tamarind tree resembles a small pumpkin and has been used as an ingredient in Indian curries and medicines for centuries.

The “tamarind” we refer to looks like this:

      tamarind or garcinia cambogia

So that pumpkin looking photo above is the “tamarind” in question. It is not the photo below:

      tamarind garcinia carbogia

      See the difference?

      1. Chris says:

Oh. Thanks for clearing that up.
